Yeah, that's the show, fried an egg on a halogen light. I'd bet money it's the manufacturers since they have no incentive to kill sales. Heh I'd also wager they have probably lined some congressman's pocket and a high import tariff is in place.

I use some floresecent bulb replacements but they won't fit in some light fixtures and never seem to last as long as they claim. Some have even failed to work right out of the box.

Other advantages of the 220V bulb on 110 are less current draw and instant on.
