No, they are not "better" they have different performance characteristics. The Infineon chips are 256 Mbit whereas the Corsair XMS (micron chips) use 128 Mbit.

The Infineon are tweaked for low latencies including CMD rate which most 256 MB DIMMs cannot handle because they are 16 chips instead of 8.

In other words, up to about 150 MHz, the Infineon is the better deal because you can run them at true 2:2:2/1T. Above that, the Corsair, Mushkin (High Perf) and Crucial pull ahead. 170 MHz is just an arbitrary number at which the system was still running stable, that is capable of actually running benchmarks and the limitation here clearly was the board (AGP and PCI) whereas all DIMMs probably will run 180 or better.

I don't believe any of the PCStats benchmark results. From a controller standpoint, they are not possible since at the same settings all memory DIMMs will perform exactly the same way.

There are quite a few problems with SiSoft, and these problems are actually documented by SiSoft in the form of "Do not move your mouse" etc. Another issue is that if you run any program before you start SiSoft, your scores will be lower because the memory will be fragmented..

And so on and so on. Bottom line is, anyone who claims that he gets different scores at the same setting with different DIMMs either doesn't know what he / she is doing or trys to sell something.
