I went to the trouble and made an ISO, works great with my original Vista Ultimate 64bit, pre SP1, OEM DVD valid key.....
anyway, it took hours because of the durn SP2 reverse integration pains, and prior to doing that I had to make the first ISO and incorporated SP1 into my original Vista OS DVD image, that in itself was another lenghtly pain in the you know what....
for the stateside regulars that want to save your self the hassle...
I did this because no matter what 'fix' I deploy, my Vista OS is just hosed enough not to allow SP2 install, and the add/remove area in programs and features exploded and removed all references to the SP1 update and many other installed updates, and somehow the install file which is needed to uninstall SP1 is also missing, yes, my 'system' shows SP1 as installed .....yada yada...upgrade is disabled, repair install options are limited to restore dates.....none which go back 5 months or so, obviously...
......and already have a legit Vista Ultimate 64 bit key, i will be happy to forward a copy, saving maybe 10 or more hours of pure unadulterated boredom...
