Friggin a..........

hosed the whole Vista install on the 74 gig rapty, drive went to RAW, got the notification while using XP32bit on the other drive...net search did not bring up any good news, so I attempted to zerofill right away since I really had nothing but the OS and a few unimportant knick knacks, kept stalling, telling me sectors couldn't be written to...tried WD utilities, same result, but the drive passed the basic fitness test, WTF???? How am I going to return this pup for RMA is what I was thinking?....maybe I make sure and drop it a couple of times hard onto the floor (kinda frustrated when I had that thought, LOL

anywho, my last ditch effort included pulling the (new) sata cable loose and reinserting it into the HD, tried again, bingo, all is good with the zerofill and reformat...so and just to be safe, I yanked the old (actually new) sata cable and put in one of the new type cables with a metal spring clips on each end back in....tight as a teenager now....

just posting cause it is one of those things that just happens, and it happened real quick, totaly and completely hosed the drive instantly....

I have had more problems with Sata cables since they came out a couple of years back, far, far more than with the old IDE ribbon cables, but the newer ones seemed to have improved considerably, until this cable....it is making me totally learly that next time is might hose something that really, really counts....

my apologies, just had to vent

friggin a
