it is much simplier than you think. i believe with comcast you pay for the digitial HD, an HD converter box (a lot of the newer HDTV's don't need one, not sure on the premium channels) is included when you go HD if needed....

i have directTV, when i got my 42 LCH HDTV i informed my provider and they sent out a techie and the proper receiver and new dish (free), done.

all backwards compatible.

the HD cable box and the TV have sufficient video/audio plugins to keep you busy plugging whatever you want into the system...you can even go wireless if you so desire with a wireless kit.....

it is much easier than you think.....
