See I run 6 HD's off this PS and a RADEON9800ProCooler.....

1. I found I didnt have a problem so much with older files on that hard disk...files that were laid down when it still had 200-300GB left. As we got closer to the end, the fragmentation from watching, deleting and recording again over the last few months nearing and getting to 2MB left on a 500GB several times now...has left it really fragmented. So the drive has had to work harder and harder to find the segments within the FAT I presume.

Defraging a 500GB has always seemed daunting to me.....

Having said that, to try my hypothesis I then moved a problem file to another HD and tried to play it again......nope....it lasted a little longer and then same again....strange though that it only happens on the recent files and not the older files.....
Anyway....

I've disconnected a couple of drives and the problem seems to have gone away.....will report back in a day or so after some serious parrallel encoding.
Cheers...

I was thinking of getting a new PS anyway as it's a bit doddgy on the restart button and sometimes you have to try it 10-20times to get it going again after a power trip or something......

What size PS did you ask...hmmm..350-400W cant remember.....
