it's Woody and you can put in any Northwood CPU (the fastest they made were the 3.2 GHz) -- I would stick with the 3.0 GHz or maybe the 2.8 GHz. There is a chance that it will support Prescott but that might require a BIOS update that may not be available from DELL.

There are two possible issues:
1) the power circuitry on the board may not deliver enough juice
2) the board may not support the higher bus frequency needed to reach 3.0 GHz (800 MHz instead of 400 MHz). All 845 boards will run at least a 533 MHz bus, though and that is automatically enabled with the CPUID of the new CPU.

To be on the save side, I would shoot for a 533 MHz bus (may be listed as 133 MHz), for example the 21x multiplier for the 2.8 GHz model.
