The new Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor system is up and running. I got all my software loaded over this past weekend and have been using it all week.

It replaced my P4 3.2 system and is noticeably faster. However, it's not break any speed records faster so I have to look to the reasons I made the upgrade and see if I can get them working like I'd hoped.

One of the improvements I had hoped for was that while Netscape 7.2 was printing my UPS labels with one core I would be able to continue working by taking advantage of the second core. What happend on the old machine was that the label download/printing process would seemingly use 100% of the processor resources and the system would not respond to any inputs until the was done. Maybe it wasn't a processor issue though as I really don't know what was happening internally.

The same thing is still happening on the new
Core-Duo system....just not for quite as long since the system is faster to begin with.

I looked through the Bios settings in the manual and saw one or two things that "could" be associated with the dual core, but I'm not optimistic and hesitant to mess with Bios settings I don't fully understand. I would have thought any dual core issues would have been taken care of automatically by the GIGABYTE
GIGABYTE GA-965P-S3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
BH
