got it working somehow! I didn't go for the raid0 for this attemp, mirrored over C: to one of the two sata drives and yes you are right about the probs with some ghosting apps LED(and probably right about that I forgot the drivers when first attempt to mirror), did the ghost with Norton, it all seemed fine whilst in DOS, however when trying to boot, nada OS!, so using one of the hirens bootcd partition tool(cant remember which one) anyway it found a prob with the mbr and fixed it after that all things fine, touch wood!,
Will go with your suggestion next time trying to raid MS, but for now I'll stick with two separate drives, have had to much headache with the SiL controller, or maybe it's the mobo not communicating to well with the Sata controller(I think the mb I have is one of the first out with onboard sata so...)
