Clockless core to get European showing
Who needs a clock? Apparently, not Handshake, even if they're making a processor core.
The Dutch company will present the ARM996HS at an ARM developers function in Paris next month. The clockless core, which was officially unveiled at a conference at Stanford in August, will be given its European debut in front of a bigger audience.
Without a clock, the core needs much less power and produces smaller currents and electromagnetic emissions. Handshake says also that the clockless core was resilient in the face of changes in temperature and voltage.
