depending on the floppy, there is the slight possiblility that the drive got fubared with the improper ribbon attachment.

there was one brand that had this problem for sure, blew out the floppy when the system was started up.

you may have to spend $10 or less for a new floppy drive.

it is amazing we are still using floppies.......
