Ok I never did much in graphic's in either Basic or Assembly so I can not help ya out there, but QBasic is an interpreter basic & not a complier basic like Quick Basic like I have used which is many times quicker then QBasic. Doing some quick reading thru google "QBasic" I find QBasic can be compiled into an exec file are you doing this ?.
On modern computers this compiled basic should fly at an insane speed, except file access LoL. Another thing you may find as assembly lang. program on the web that does what you are trying to do now. You might even find some source codes that shows you how to do what you need to do. I am sure there are ASM groups out there that could help you out to.
