n.p. .. The two chipsets that had problems like the ones you describe were the original AMD 761 chipset - in fact, most boards that came out, like the ASUS A7M266, had the third DIMM slot removed - and the ALiMAGiK1 DDR chipset where most boards like the A7A266 had the hybrid interface to support both DDR and SDRAM.

I still remember when we found the jumper trick on the A7M266, somebody told me that it saved them about 10,000 RMAs
