Take a look at the power supply's two main capacitors (should be a couple really big ones right at the 'front' of the power supply circuitry) and make sure they're not swollen or leaking. The input stage usually employs a circuit called a 'voltage doubler' when the selector is set to 110/120. Plugging it in at 220 may have damaged the two capacitors that form part of that circuit, with a rapid failure following in the near future.
