If I remember right AMD claimed they were going to stick with there sockets unlike intell was back then, to provide upgrades & avoid confusion. AMD did this like you said for awhile now they are ending the sockets faster like intell does. I hope M2 works with DDR3 or we will see another socket change again. Another thought is if AMD ever catch's Intell with trace size intell's booty will be kicked all over the place.
