You can state that my early bids with computers were second hand. When I was going through college, our physical sciences department was purging the old stuff, ie 68000 and 8080 computers. Most of these computers were made for a specific instrument. It was rather difficult to get these computers to do other things, since many of them did not really have a BIOS. My friend was able to get the 8080 working with an old version of DOS, but the 8" drive failure was the death of this system. The 68000 was a DOS type, but it did not have a BIOS. I could not get it to work properly, but the power supply and case was useful for another project (car amp, home stereo). I kept the 68000 mobo as an art piece. It wasn't until I got into grad school that XT's and 286's were purged. I had a blast with those machines, and this is where I really got into computers.
