broken microphone cable

i know this may seem simple to some of you but i'm not sure what to do. the other night i kicked the cable on my Sennheiser PC150 headset, tearing the cable on the microphone cable.the cord tore from inside the mimi-jack so splicing is impossible.what are my options, save spending $50 on a new headset? do they sell 1/8 mini-jacks with the bare wire sticking out to make splicing possible , or is soldering necessary? i've seen totally separate mini-jacks at RShack (no wires). what are my best options?
