I got another one for ya.
3 year old Dell Dimension 8200
User was working when her accounting software froze up. After several ctrl-alt-del tries to get the program to close, she got it to shutdown.
When she turned it back on, the dell bios gave a message that the hard drive is operating out of range, and that you should back up your data and replace it. Hit f1 to continue.
When I hit F1, it did nothing. So turned it off again. When I turned it on, it took longer than normal to get past the dell screen and it now says:
Retry Boot: F1 Enter Setup: F2
Hitting F1 just makes the same message come back.
I hit F2 and saw for the drive info that the hard drive, and both optical drives all said "unknown device"
And I went to set up the boot order and it said:
Floppy
CDROM (not installed)
HD 0 (Not installed)
Following from that, I also cannot boot from CD.
User also mentioned that recently she's had issues where her cursor would dissappear for a few seconds and eventually come back.
Sound like the motherboard just gave up?
