That missed one thing that happened to me along time ago with a tandy 2000 with the junk 80186 brain dead CPU. Hardy no one would make the computers (to much support parts needed) & not many would pay the xtra money to upgrade to this CPU base computer. Back to my story at a electronic ham swap show I purchased some computer power cords (computer shows did not attract enuf people back in these days). Months later I wanted to setup another 2000 computer as I did there was a boom & other noises & light along with a foul smell. It turned out that hot was running thru ground so every part inside the computer had 120 volts AC running thru it so it was mostly total trash. The only saving grace was I did not pay full price for the system as radio shack had a discontinued sales when I bought a few, thou it was hard earned money back then. In the end I used some of the bad cords as a monitor adapter after some wiring & the rest got filed under 13. |
