oh its back, it was my ME firewall blocking network access, I guess I had too many denials of permission for the subnet due to spammy intrusions from leaky intranets over the years, I can even connect remote desktop ME>XP but not XP>ME yet, even if I disco the modem and disable XP firewall XP still sais it could not connect because remote connection is not enabled... so how did I make the connection the other way then ? stupid @#$%*£& !!!
