Hello,

Well, I was sort of thinking the same thing so that's why yesterday I changed out the 768M 400DDR for three brand new sticks of 512M 333DDR for a new total of 1.53G of memory. I removed the memory today to look at the holders and all looks fine so I turned the machine on to reinstall Win2k again. I had to reformat so when the machine rebooted to continue the setup, blue screen of death, stop 0X00000024---NTFS_File_System. I just formatted the partition to NTFS. This is the first time the machine has been on today. I did notice something hitting the floppy 3-4 times then I checked the machine and it was blue screened. I didn't actually see the blue screen come up as I'm on another machine(the good twin) via KVM switch. If it is a BIOS problem and the BIOS is burned on the CPU chip, can the chip still be going bad, just has not failed yet? Could a virus(I have AV & firewall) somehow invaded the BIOS/chip? A bad CMOS battery would be indicated by the BIOS not keeping basic settings like clock in memory but should still boot into windows, I would think. I did happen to find my set of Win3.1 diskettes. Maybe I will try them next! Thanks, no one.
