It's 1080i for interlaced and according to people it's much better. Problem is you need completely new equipment (cameras, set top boxes, recievers and finally TVs).

Cameras and studio equipment is now in place. HDTV capable Plasmas are big $$$, LCDs and CRT non existant. Recievers and Set-top Boxes start appearing. Premiere will start with film, sport and docu channels next year around this time.

I'm eagerly awaitng HDTV capable LCD TVs
