XP always adds drive letters but doesn't replace them. U can use the volume manager to change/assign them as u want.

No.

Yes. IIRC XP adds a MBR to each physical drive it is installed on. If not, you could boot the repair console and do a fixboot or fixmbr.

No. U can change it (see above) or put the drive on the primary master channel. Gets usually the C:.

Usually not.
