I've since changed the powersupply, and get the right voltages for the cpu.

A new observation: I'm running memtest86 and get some enlightening results. It seems that the squealing sound is directly related to the ram, or ram circuitry on the MB. Whereas before the squealing was random (like a fax machine noise), it now has a regular pattern, depending on what's being written to the ram. For example, it will oscillate between two tones, and the tones change exactly when the ram pattern changes. This is very reproducible.

This being said, it's run for about 1.5 hours now and no errors are reported.
