The machine should be ok. The Tyan 1590 isn't a bad board, although it's the board that Juanita had, that the clip on the zif socket broke and let the processor fan fly of and it bent a capacitor and killed the board. She didn't notice it and it got the processor too.(K62-500)I have the Vortex II running on an Epox Mvp3C-M board with a K62-500.(Kasey's) But they were all running WIN98.
It might be all the bent capacitors on the sound card if the soldering is broke on one or the little foot isn't in the little hole all the way.
Exchange it and see if that makes a difference. Juanita had a SB Live Value on hers. Worked ok with the latest and greatest drivers.
