but in the long-term, the equipment he buys now may obsolete faster if he goes with a Rambus solution. SiS has a new P4/Rambus chipset and there's a small possibility that Intel will develop another one in the future, but for now, the i850E is the last on Intel's roadmap.

Meanwhile, DDR-II mainboards are expected to be backwards-compatible with current DDR modules (although I supposed that could always wash up between now and DDR-II's eventual launch...)
