I have a laptop and a desktop, and I want to get an external cd/rw drive that I can use on either machine. Both computers only have basic USB.
I've found three basic options for me: get a firewire drive and pci pc card addins for those ports, get a usb 2.0 drive and the add in cards, or I've seen this "triple play" burner. It will work with usb 2.0, parallel, or a pcmcia card slot. It lists the fastest burn time for usb 2.0
this one catches my interest because it says it will work in dos with the parallel port so I could use norton ghost
What do you guys think? Is usb 2.0 or firewire the way to go?
A side question: if usb 2.0 is faster than pcmcia card bus, if I get a usb 2.0 pcmcia add in card, how does it function at the faster usb speed when it's running through the slower pcmcia bus?
