having a little network problem. I've got a network set up with cable modem and a linksys 4 port router.
I just got a laptop, so I took one of the network cables off a computer to try my laptop out on the network. No problems there

However, I just put the cable back on the original computer. Note: I haven't turn this computer on at all since taking the network cable from it. After I turn it back on, I have access to my LAN... however it gave a DHCP error, and I couldn't get on the internet. After multiple restarts, and resetting the router, it still doesn't get on the iternet (it only gave the dhcp error on the first boot). I even tried removing and re-adding tcp/ip for the network card. I even removed the network card from device manager, restarted, and let it reinstall. I even reinstalled the drivers from the floppy disk.

Now, I'm back where I started. I have LAN access but no internet. if I look in winipcfg, it has some oddball IP address that I have no idea where it got, certainly not from the router. And tcp/ip is set to obtain IP automatically. No other computers are having dhcp problems on my network. I've never had a problem with this computer before either.
Any ideas?
