I am with you on this one Ben as I have looked @ the price of P3's & decided what a waste to upgrade when a duron or athlon will span the P3 silly with their power. Also the new cheap MoBo's work well enuf (not for OCing thou) but can use your old ram or the newer DDR ram @ a computer show with tax $67 I got a MoBo with network & sound a ECS K7S5A or @ newegg $54 + $9 S&H. This is not a fast chipset but should serve you well. BTW I got the i gig CPU for free so I did well.
