You got the voltage right but the LEDS will draw much more current a solid state short.

Normal LEDs green color are 1.2 volts @ .005 AMPs & red LEDs are 1.2 volts @ .020 AMPs. Which surprized me when your 5 volt green LED worked in the MoBo LED which should have a lowwer voltage but maybe a higher current (AMPs).

If those articles do not have the math to figure out the resistor value for you I have a table around here somewhere. Also you may want to consider using the 12 volt line which powers fans & drive motors if you short the power your not hitting the CPU & other critical componets.
BTW what is the current draw of your LED ?.
