All you need to verify it is an old Physics textbook, or search online for "resistivity". It's a physcial electrical property of materials, where higher numbers mean more resistant, and therfore, less conductive.
Gold is not much better a conductor than aluminum, which itself is preferred only in applications where its low cost outweighs the benefits of using copper -- commercial power transmission, for example.
