some gave me the idea to try this on it.
So I did. and it confirmed yes - my drive has a problem
lol

it said the media descriptor byte or bit or whatever was missing
so I said fix it
then it said that FAT 1 and FAT 2 don't match. FAT 1 has less errors than FAT 2, so pressing fix will replace FAT 2 with FAT 1.

I told it to make an undo disk for the change with the media descriptor byte.
with the FAT replacing, it's going inanely slow and constantly accessing the floppy drive, so I guess it's making undo information for this too?
anyway.. it's still doing that.
