with your WinXP computer. Have you tried shutting down all the other computers in the house, rebooting the XP machine, and then trying to see if it can connect through the hub. All your computers will have to have a seperate computer name (usually they are provided by the cable company). Also, make sure you have the right workgroup name (ie @home).
Also, ports do go bad in hubs. Perhaps the LAN Cable you are using is a crossover cable, and that is the reason why it works when plugged into the modem and not the hub. Try a LAN Cable and port that work with one of the other computers.
