I decided to put a variable resistor on the fan, and mounted the switch on one of the drive bays. Worked great, can turn it down to 4900 rpms and back to 6500 rpms. Used a 25 ohm rheostat from radio shack. Thanks Ludi for the advice. My ears also thank you.
