Try for a Pentium III, since they're cheaper and much easier to get used CPUs and mobos. I also think in some instances they are actually faster than a P4/SDRAM combo too. If I had the money I could have gotten myself a brand new ASUS CUCL2 for a really cheap price.
Myself, I would have went after another all-AMD system, since at the low end they annihilate any and all Pentiums. Why not try a cheap Duron/Iwill or MSI board combo? Much more bang for the buck if you ask me.
