Spinrite likes to use a DOS boot disk.
Yes spinrite 1 & 2 was a godsent back in the old days when HD's were small & every sector counted & the 1 to 1 interleave fix with out losing data was invented by Gipson. My spinrite 2 stopped working along time ago HD to large.
HD's are very different now the basic low level format no longer exists & so spinrite is different now also & works with all HD's if they can be seen by DOS. If you have bad clusters & you have spare good clusters spinrite will remove the bad clusters & replace them with good ones.
