This happend to me. I had a 20 gig IDE, (single partition), drive with 98SE. I plugged in a 20gig IDE as a slave and partitioned it down the middle. I Set up win98SE, (ghosted from the single drive), to FAT 32 Drive D and WinXP Pro on NTFS Drive "H".
Ran it for months then decided I needed to get that single 20 gig drive out of there and use it in another machine.
Boom! That drive held the duel-boot records and I lost it all. (I formatted it before removing). I tried to self configure boot.ini but it failed so........I reloaded it all.
Xp and 98 with multiple drives can be bad. Bery Bery Bad!
