But, at least it looks like a happy ending!

Have 2 30G WDs on IDE 3&4. No RAID, just 2 drives. 1 for WinXP, 1 for storage. Worked great.

Dual Boot 98/XP.........

Before start, pull IDE cables out of Storage and ZIP drive. Make sure BIOSs are happy.

Install 98. Went quite well, stomach still churning.

Install XP. Also went well, stomach feeling a little better.

Plug ZIP back in. 98 and XP happy to see it, all O.K.

Aaaaaaah!

Plug in storage drive. NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! Not in 98se OR XP! Took me about 45 minutes to figure out that it was set as active! Yep, active, confirmed in XP and Fdisk.

Now, I can guess I did it by accident when I Fdisked last time. Both drives were 100% so.....

But, how the hell did XP install on this before?

And, I bet THAT it what blew the whole thing up before! I didn't have it unplugged before! I unplugged it this time to protect it.

Ended up having to have XP delete the part and format it.

Could I have undone it's "active" status with Partition Magic? I have recent copy of it, but can't find the bleeder!

Oh well, at least everything was backed up on CD!
