problem is after awhile the motors started being stuborn. Take that idea alittle farther I wonder
if appling an booster voltage say 16 or 20 volts DC thru the 12v motor line only to the bad HD may jump start the HD to get the data off of it ?.
All you need is to tie into a drive extender, use
a SPDT momentary toggle switch & a 16 to 20 volt
PS. When switch is in normal position the PC PSU is feeding the 12 volts to the HD. I do not known if this idea is even safe as when I have had switches on HD's to shut the noisy buggers or RC5 crunchers down I alway killed both 5 & 12 volt
supply down, both may need to be present to keep a HD happy.
