I finally got the thing to install. It would of worked earlier but I made a mistake. After pulling out all by hardware, it didn't work so I figured it might be the BIOS. I put my old modem back in, ghosted win98 downloaded the latest BIOS, which was supposed to be win2000 compliant. I left my modem 'cause I figured that it wasn't the culprit since the problem had shown itself even when the modem was plugged in. To make a long story short, both the BIOS AND the modem were causing problems! So that my system is stable I can add the rest of the hardware... yay!

Anyway, I had a few questions though:

1) I now have to manually turn my computer off, since windows won't do it for me. I know that this is related to ACPI, but I'm don't fully understand. In my BIOS I have the option to turn ACPI support on and off, so why doesn't win2000 think my computer is ACPI compliant? (it just shows up as a "standard PC").

2) I also checked the problem devices in the system information tool and I get the following problem device:

NT APM/legacy interface node,

along with an error code 22. What does this mean?

Thanks a lot for all your help. I sincerely think that this is one of the best boards around!
