when i first arrived in this here fine country(CDA) - from germany - i managed to get 6 tickets within 5 month, including one from a wisconsin bubble gum machine on my birthday. all tickets were with a 1973 chev impala - best, biggest couch i ever rode, never noticed the speed really. what saved my bacon - to a point - was that my license at the time was converted from my german license and they asked me to retake it, theory and driving test.
