A Compaq tech gave me 2 Xeon III 550's with 2mb
cache. Result of an upgrade. I am wondering if it would be worth it to build a workstation around these processors. In these days of 2ghz processor speed 550 sounds so slow...but these things are huge (slot 2 design) and have so much L2 cache.

Can somebody explain what kind of applications benefit from L2 cache and give an opinion about
weather it would be worth investing in a motherboard for these things?
