that your CMOS jumper isn't set in the "clear" position...sometimes that can have bad results.

Double-check it, and if it is already in the normal position, try clearing for a few seconds (with the power off). Also make sure that if the heatsink is off the CPU, reinstall it before doing this. Sometimes the system will attempt to power up when you replace the clear CMOS jumper to the "normal" position.

Another trick that seems to work on my AK31, turn the system on, then yank the power cord (rather than use the soft-off button), then plug it back in and see what happens.
