Any 486 faster than the AMD DX-40 needed some kind of cooling. The 3.3V DX2-66's could get away with just a heat sink, but the 5V's needed a fan, too. (I suppose that depends on the size of the heatsink, though. Strap an Athlon XP sink to a 486DX4-120, and you wouldn't need a fan..... |
