There are a few alternatives, one is the ASUS A7V26-E but it appears that ASUS has a few volage problems with that board, leading to fried CPUs. Another really strong contender is the EPoX 8KHA+ which is marginally faster than the Shuttle. The MSI K7T266Pro2-(RU) is not a bad choice either butmy feeling was that they did cut some corners with the power circuitry. Soltek's board is quite fast and stable but lacks some BIOS options. The Soyo Dragon should have been here a few days ago but I haven't gotten it in yet. Nest week there will be the Shuttle AK35 featuring an improved power circuitry and on-board RAID.

All in all, at this point, the AK31 is falling behind in terms of performance by about 1-2% but costs about 40-50A% less than the competition which makes it still the board of choice. Been running mine for about 2 months nonstop now cracking RC5 with the only interruption of installing WinXP on the board and not a single glitch.

very good board and it sits there rock solid, the same can be said about the EPoX but that one is more expensive.

(I should add a few pics and call it a motherboard roundup)
