It did it again. I'm not sure what the bleep is going on here. I did not use those drivers, I used the disk that came with the sound card. Worked fine before.
I am doubting the drivers have anything to do with it now. I had Go Back on the machine, went back as far as I could go. No help. I uninstalled the creative stuff, no good.
I remove, restart, no good. Nothing helps.
Bad hard drive? All these installs were same, 30G HD w/ 2 parts 50% each. 98 on 1st part, XP planned for second. Twice never even got XP disk out before 98 go boomers. 
30G WDs. Can't get SMART status on either, presumably due to them being on the HP IDE3&4.
Next, I'm gonna remove the drive I'm using, replace it with the other and install there, see if it does it again.
Any suggestions on troubleshooting? I need to keep this running, family computer.
