I am amazed and horrified that SBLiveWare drivers can do that much damage. It will be interesting to see who else has that kind of problem.
I do know that Creative PCI sound cards are so pernickity that Asus for example have had to rework certain Mobo bios's to specifically reserve IRQ 5 for them.
In addition I have written long and involved (constructive) emails to Creative about their drivers and the need for a more intuitive (and hopefully more compact) driver set.
They were polite and receptive but until recently had little incentive to get their act together as they were the only major manufacturer of good quality PC soundcards.
They dont seem to grasp that their SW and HW has to work as one component in a system comprised of many components, IMHO they seem to feel they have a right to a higher degree of indulgeance than other component manufacturers which makes life harder for the rest of them and us.
