Thanks for the well-intended comment, but as I said in my first email, I am hoping to find something more authoritative such as a link to a website or perhaps a magazine issue which did an article on this.

E.g., suppose 1 out of 5 people have their AMD CPU fail in 2 years, whereas only 1 out of 1000 people have their Intel CPU fail in that time. (I'm just making these numbers up - like I said, just SUPPOSE.) We might have several people post responses to this board saying, "My AMD CPU has lasted 5+ years!" but that wouldn't tell the whole story of the difference in reliability. There would need to be a large number of responses to get an accurate assessment, and somehow I doubt I'll get hundreds or thousands of responses to this posting.

Surely there is a computer magazine, or some consumer group, out there that has some statistics on this.

Somewhat ironically, as I look at the top of this message board, I just noticed that it says, "Current Poll: How long has your current CPU run at default speed?" That's just the sort of poll I would be interested in, EXCEPT that this one is not CPU-specific and it doesn't mean the CPU failed after that time - it could just be the length of time one has owned their current system. But surely some web site or magazine has taken a more detailed poll on this topic.
