Transmeta's Crusoe processor isn't very popular with OEMs because it has nothing to offer over the established competition. 1st, compared to other mobile CPU's, Crusoe is s-l-o-w. Consumers are addicted to GHz, so the low speed Crusoe has no appeal here.
Crusoe's biggest benefit was supposed to be low power consumption. Only problem is that in a laptop, the screen and hard drive suck up much more power, so the high efficiency Crusoe doesn't make a lot of difference in battery life. Now enter Intel with its SpeedStep and AMD with PowerNow technology. The Intel and AMD chips still use more power than Crusoe, but they're hella faster.
I'm not quite sure, but Crusoe costs more than Intel's/AMD's offerings. Besides the code morphing technology, there's nothing attractive there.
