On my server with 1gb of memory, I completely disabled the pagefile and it flies.

The real test (at least under an NT based OS like NT, 2K, XP) is to use your computer like you normally do, most strenous thing you ever do at one time. Then go to your task manager, and check the Peak Commit Charge value. If this is higher than your physical memory, adjust your pagefile size to make up the slack, plus a bit of a fudge factor (like 100mb or so).

I have rarely seen the commit charge on my workstation go above 350mb, so with my 256mb of physical ram, I have a swap of 192mb. This has been more than adequate, no "Out of memory" errors.
